Lit Crawl Global 2020: Deep In Earth

“Deep in earth my love is lying and I must weep alone.” – Edgar Allan Poe

Moth Sanctuary Productions created & performed ‘Deep in Earth’ – a dramatisation of the works of Edgar Allan Poe – to represent Cheltenham Literature Festival at the LitQuake Lit Crawl Global 2020.

Having formed Moth Sanctuary Productions at the first ever Lit Crawl Cheltenham in 2016 and performed there every year since, we were both thrilled and humbled to be chosen for the worldwide live streamed virtual event in the absence of a real-life Lit Crawl this year.

This exclusive new piece drew parallels between Poe’s own experiences of loss due to Tuberculosis and the themes of death, grief and isolation in a time of pandemic.

Starring Andrew Bate as Edgar Allan Poe

Emily Faulkner as Virginia Clemm

If you missed the live streamed event on Saturday 24 October 2020, the video is available to watch on our YouTube page.

We performed ‘Deep in Earth’ at the truly stunning All Saints Church Cheltenham, our sincere thanks to Father Robert for his support and use of the venue.
